Elena is a PhD Candidate in the Biomedical Sciences at UC San Diego researching T cell immunology. They have a BSc in Honours Microbiology & Immunology and Minor in Art History, as well as an MSc in Integrated Neuroscience from McGill University. Establishing inclusive and interdisciplinary learning environments is important to Elena. In their free time, Elena likes to draw on Photoshop, stress-bake, and munch on cookies.

Danielle is passionate about creating spaces that centre marginalized voices and social justice in STEM. She completed her MSc in Neuroscience at McGill University, where she studied markers of consciousness in the brain. Outside of SCC, she serves on the Board of Directors of Black In Neuro and works at the CIHR Institute of Gender and Health. You can usually find Danielle checking her plants for new growth, watching cooking shows, or drinking copious amounts of tea.

Cynthia recently completed her MSc in Biochemistry at McGill University, where she studied viruses with applications in agriculture and cancer therapy. Cynthia is passionate about science, education, and social justice. She currently works to develop undergraduate science programming and support teaching innovations in McGill’s Faculty of Science. She also loves music, podcasts, coffee, and hiking.

Abbey Morris is a Science Communicator. She earned her Master’s of Science Communication from Laurentian University and her BSc in Neuroscience and Mental Health with a minor in Psychology from Carleton University. Abbey works as a curriculum development manager on an Indigenous health research project and as the Bioart Lab Technician at INCUBATOR Art Lab in Windsor, Ontario. She is passionate about art and science and believes that science communication is the perfect way to bridge these interests. Abbey strives to make scicomm a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive space for people to share their enthusiasm for science in creative and engaging ways. Outside of work, Abbey enjoys bouldering, thrift shopping, and drawing flowers.

Vi-An did their undergraduate studies at McGill in Biology and Psychology and completed their MSc in Genetic Counselling. You can hit her up anytime to talk about identity and behaviour, creativity, social justice, and all of their intersections. If they're not working, you will probably find Vi-An tending to her plants, making bread, or trying to learn new skateboard tricks.

Michelle is currently a medical student at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry (Windsor campus). She completed her MSc in Experimental Surgery at McGill University, where she studied how high-fat diets and obesity contribute to prostate cancer progression. She is interested in storytelling as a science communication medium, and in crafting interactive and inclusive science education materials. In her free time, she enjoys reading, writing, and musing about the possibilities that lie at the bottom of the ocean.
